Apt name for this record and the Camae Ayewa (aka Moor Mother) fronted jazz ensemble as their music has that spirit of experimentalism in avant garde jazz and black music and still with the frustrations today that fired up many political artists on the Impulse and Verve labels who are hopeful and fearful of tomorrow. If you love politically fired spiritual jazz then I think this record is cause for excitement.

Largely recorded at the historic Van Gelder Studio, the album sees the quintet meld atmospheric jazz, global music traditions and spoken word into our shared story of existence - futures full of possibility, the present with all its uncertainties, and pasts as wellsprings of ancestral wisdom. 
 
Formed spontaneously in Brooklyn, NY in 2015, Irreversible Entanglements consists of poet vocalist Camae Ayewa (often known as Moor Mother), bassist Luke Stewart, trumpeter Aquiles Navarro, saxophonist Keir Neuringer, and drummer Tcheser Holmes. 
 
This album is five standing on the shoulders of legions: the healers, the alchemists, the rebels, the mothers and fathers who have fought and weaved and invented new ways of being, seeing and balancing the frequencies of this planet towards trans-dimensional liberation and universal understanding. 
 
This album follows IE’s Impulse! debut Protect Your Light (September 2023) which was lauded by critics on various ‘Best of 2023’ lists, including The New York Times, NPR Music, Pitchfork, BrooklynVegan, Paste Magazine, Vulture, Stereogum, Spotify, Qobuz, TIDAL, BBC Radio 6, The Wire and more.
