LOL at people who think shoegaze is easy, this shopkeeper has winced through your B&M MBVs, I've cringed through your Home Bargains Ride's and I've listened to the Poundland Slowdive so you don't have to. One doesn't just tap a collection of pedals hoping you create something euphoric, the feels come from a tune that propels itself headfirst into your heart and THEN the wonderful swirls of guitars, the pulsating rhythms that have your ticker going in time whilst a blast of noise clears your head and fills it only with good vibrations. What I'm saying is bdrmm are just about the best in shoegaze, post-rock, dreampop and noise rock.
For those who dig: the best in shoegaze past and present plus the modern indie of DIIV, Wild Nothing, Deeper, Launder...
While the world became socially distanced in 2020, Hull’s post-shoegaze, dream pop, heavy guitar effects quartet bdrmm made the kind of impact with their debut album any young band would dream about. Bedroom was hailed as “a heady, forward-thinking shoe gaze distillation” by Clash magazine, the Guardian proclaimed “one of the underground hits of lockdown”, while NME awarded the album five solid stars and called Bedroom nothing less than “a modern day shoe gaze classic.” Now signed to Mogwai's Rock Action Records, the band return with I Don't Know, complete with their trademark effects-laden guitars and motorik Neu! grooves but now with added piano, strings, electronica, sampling and the occasional dance beat. Bdrmm fans will not be disappointed and the fans of Radiohead, Ride, Mogwai, The Cure that are yet to discover bdrmm would do well by blessing their ears with "I Don't Know"
