Every JCK is different, whether he's going New Age with disco, space funk Hancock, solo piano, doom soul (I'm coining it) or making the year's best rnb record with Eddie Chacon, he's grabbing inspiration from every corner but still remaining very John Carroll Kirby. It's an indulgent and luxurious sound but with playfullness and wit, on 'Blowout' we can expect something with a Latin American tropicalia funk flare as he takes inspiration from the music of Costa Rica.

Blowout contains all the hallmarks of the signature sound John Carroll Kirby has finessed over six solo albums and dozens of collaborations – playfulness, humour, and lushness.

Kirby has worked with superstars like Solange, Frank Ocean and Harry Styles, and indie artists Yves Tumor, Liv.e, Remi Wolf, Eddie Chacon and YuSu. He’s GRAMMY-nominated for his contribution to Steve Lacy’s Gemini Rising and lead single “Bad Habit”.
