Daryl Johns' debut album carries the same feeling of a well-used VHS tape, constantly recorded over with episodes of forgotten US sitcoms, his music plays like a warped version of sparkly 90s theme music, the jingle from an advert with an earworm that hasn't left your head since you were 8 and experimental infectious pop from a band that played on telly once and never again. This record has such a vibe to it. 

Los-Angeles based bassist and songwriter Daryl Johns announces his self-titled debut album, Daryl Johns.  Johns writes euphoric pop music “of a certain Irish quality.” His earnestly hopeful TV show theme music, bent over the knee of New Jersey “diner rock”—his “pop for victory”—his “champion pop,” his “sped up pop”—sometimes his sunny “bubblegum country” or his coke-eyes “motivational jazz fusion”—all find their home on the artist’s debut.
