Multi-disciplined artist Damon Locks brings the beats, the samples and spoken word with Black chamber collective D-Composed bringing the chamber strings to create a dark, tense, joyous and defiant avant-classic-jazz-hip hop record that is quintessetially International Anthem.

Dawning is a collaboration between Chicago creative music mainstay Damon Locks and Black chamber music collective D-Composed. The material was recorded live at The Land School, Rebuild Foundation’s headquarters on Dorchester Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, where D-Composed & International Anthem are the inaugural creative partners in residence.

The album’s sonic palette pairs Locks’ live sampling, beat knowledge, and spoken word swagger with D-Composed’s take on the Black string ensemble with otherworldly results.
