Double Exposure: AAA 180gram Vinyl LP
TTM005Pre-Order Item. Release Date Subject to Change.
Label: Time Traveler
Release Date: 23rd January
Another incredible reissue from Time Traveler who with their Muse Records archival series are fast becoming one of my favourite labels. Joe Chambers & Larry Young work together here as a drum and keys duo, with Chambers going from wild jazz fusion wig outs to minimal rhythm pulses with Larry Young moves from keys to organ simultaneous offering up multi-layered meditations and sparring on those fusion workouts.
Remastered & Cut AAA directly from the original analog tapes by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab. Pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal Media and housed in Stoughton Old Style® Tip-On Jackets. Including an insert with newly written liner notes by Bill Milkowski and Barney Fields with rare photographs by Jan Persson and Raymond Ross.
Originally released in 1978 on Muse Records, Double Exposure is a rare and genre-blurring session that brings together two visionary musicians in a highly personal, exploratory setting. Drummer-composer Joe Chambers—best known for his work with Wayne Shorter, Bobby Hutcherson, and Freddie Hubbard—is joined by Larry Young, a pioneering jazz organist whose modal and avant-garde leanings helped define Tony Williams’ Lifetime and Miles Davis’s Bitches Brew era.
