This year's seemingly random collaborator generator pairs up electronic techno dub ambient polymath Skee Mask with one of our favourite cosmic country outfits North Americans. I've heard the results (cheers for the listen link) and it's sci-fi western dystopian ambience in a world rebuilding it's beauty again.
A collaboration few would have predicted, and one that makes perfect sense once you hear it. Munich producer Skee Mask (Bryan Müller) has spent over a decade turning hazy, atmospheric techno, breakbeat, dub and jungle into some of electronic music's most acclaimed records, from 2018's Compro to 2024's Resort. North Americans, the ambient country-folk project of guitarist Patrick McDermott, brings a completely different palette of slow-unspooling drones.
Final Circle finds these two worlds colliding, pairing rhythmic electronic detail with the wide-open, meditative textures both artists are known for.
