Another gem pulled from the depths by Jazz Dispensary. The Visitors are alto and tenor sax playing brothers Earl & Carl Grubbs, who made the most sumptuous spiritual jazz soul album. Originally released on the impeccable Muse Records imprint back in 1975, this is the kind of jazz record that puts a spring in your step and swells your heart, it's also one of those records that's perfect for those that (mind bogglingly) fear the genre as it finds itself so often being an instrumental soul record.
Heavily reminiscent of late-career Coltrane, Motherland is an emotive spiritual soul jazz album by The Visitors, consisting of the alto and tenor sax playing brothers Earl & Carl Grubbs. Originally released in 1975 on the legendary Muse Records imprint and returning to vinyl after five decades, this Jazz Dispensary Top Shelf reissue of Motherland was cut from the original analog tapes (AAA) by Kevin Gray, pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Fidelity Record Pressing, and packaged in a tip-on jacket.
