Check that first track 'Sunrain' out, that's a techno track made in 1976, buddy and naturally recorded in Berlin. Ashra is the project of visionary guitarist and synthman Manuel Gottsching after splitting Ash Ra Tempel. Like many of his releases over the years he's become somewhat of a prophetical musical spaceman predicting the future of music to come as he expands from the kosmiche to the balearic to visions of a million dancefloors to come.

Guitarist and synthesiser player Manuel Gottsching formed Ashra after disbanding Ash Ra Tempel, the outfit he had led since 1971. Moving away from the space rock of his previous group, Ashra was a far more electronics-based project. Recorded in Berlin, between March and June 1976, the four pieces on the album represent the very best of what became known as Kosmiche: dreamily repetitive, glancing to the stars while keeping feet firmly on the ground.
