Nighthawks is a genesis album of sorts as his voice adopts a rough and raw sound that would come to be his trademark, the storytelling more complex and the music would be less a bed and more a character, a setting and an atmosphere to paint rich pictures of the narrative. 50 years old this, ageing like a classic painting you could swear was made later than it was. 

50th Anniversary Reissue on limited edition 180g Yellow Marbled vinyl. Recorded in
front of a live audience at the Record Plant Recording Studio in Los Angeles in 1975,
Nighthawks at the Diner debuts some of Waits' greatest classics like "Warm Beer,
Cold Women" and "Eggs and Sausage" with a crack jazz ensemble backing him up and
some of the greatest stage patter ever committed to record.
