Demon are delighted to present the classic S'Express album 'Original
Soundtrack' for National Album Day 2026
Available on vinyl for the first time since its initial 1989 release, this newly mastered
edition of 'Original Soundtrack' is a striking half-and-half blue and black pressing with
the original artwork painstakingly reconstructed, and personally approved by Mark
Moore.
Conceived by London superstar DJ Mark Moore as a vehicle for his studio
endeavours, S'Express melded the nascent sounds of acid house and hip hop with a
punkily post-modern creative ethos and the joyous exuberance of disco. The results
crossed over into pop dynamite.
The debut single 'Theme From S'Express' borrowed enthusiastically not only from
Rose Royce's 'Is It Love You're After' but over a dozen other recordings too: everyone
from Debbie Harry and Yazoo to Gil Scott- Heron, The Stepford Wives and Gene
Roddenberry's 'The Star Trek Dream'. A landmark in the use of samples, it shot to #1 in
the UK in April 1988 before doing the business worldwide.
'Superfly Guy' and an irresistible reinvention of Sly & The Family Stone's 'Hey Music
Lover' featuring guest vocals from Billie Ray Martin gave S'Express a hat trick of Top
Ten hits before Original Soundtrack debuted at #5 in March 1989.
Tracks: Overture / Theme From S'Express / L'Age Du Gateau / Can You Feel Me /
Superfly Guy / Blow Me Another Lollypop / Hey Music Lover / Pimps, Pushers,
Prostitutes / Special And Golden (Parts I & II) / Coma II (A.M/O.K)
